It checks the roadworthiness and safety aspects of your car, and it’s a legal requirement for the vast majority of vehicles aged three years or more.

A service inspects the condition of your vehicle. It’s a health check, essentially - one that looks at general wear and tear as well as specific components.

In most cases, 45 to 60 minutes.

An interim service usually takes between two and three hours; a full service can be longer than three hours because it’s more exhaustive.

An MOT is mandatory while a service is optional. That said, regular servicing is essential if you wish to ensure that your car continues to be safe to drive.

Generally speaking, an interim service is every six months (or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first) while a full service is every 12 months (or 12,000 miles).

After its third birthday, and on an annual basis.

At the very least, 1.6mm across the central 75% of the tyre – however, we strongly advise a minimum 3mm tread depth.
